Apple knows marketing.

It’s just amazing how well the Apple Marketing machine works.  Over the past few years, they’ve managed to generate hype around what would normally be shortcomings in their devices.

1. Apple manages to sell millions of iPhones without MMS capability.

2. Apple manages to sell a phone without multi-tasking

3. Apple manages to sell an Intel PC for twice the price of what the market will bear.

4. Apple manages to treat their customer base like complete and utter shit (and we come back for more).

Now that’s a true talent.  Kudos to Apple!

One Response to “Apple knows marketing.”

  1. You’re wrong. Apple does great marketing, but it wouldn’t work if they didn’t deliver. Yes, there are shortcomings. There are shortcomings with all technology devices. Their genius is in the fact that they pick the right strengths and are really smart about the shortcomings so that people can live with the shortcomings.

    Do one thing well.

    Now let’s rephrase your points:

    1. Apple proves the the world that MMS is not a required feature but a ‘nice to have’
    2. Apple proves to the world that multi-tasking is not the only way to skin a cat
    3. Apple proves to the world that quality software and good design are what people buy, not a feature list.
